Howells wins BRCA Truggy Nat Rd2

Truggy National Champion Jon Howells steered his trusty RC8T to an impressive victory at the very difficult and demanding NNRC Preston Track. With interchangeable weather “The Howler” displayed some very consistent and controlled driving throughout the 3 rounds of qualifying to take TQ. The final was a flag to flag victory. Whooping and cheering during his victory lap was the confirmation we needed to hear that Jon was delighted with his performance and says, “It’s been worth the effort and hard work to keep my championship chances alive, I’m chuffed to bits”. Team mates and good friends Lloyd “pitty” Pitt (P5) and Pete “adoo” Hedley (P11) joined Howler in the A final to round off a great days racing for Team Associated.

All 3 AE drivers used the NEW Fastrax Soft Twister tyres with Proline closed cell inserts. A perfect combination for both wet and dry astroturf. Power being supplied by the exceptionally smooth RB BXR engines, which again proved their worth with excellent fuel economy by easily exceeding the 10min mark.

Meanwhile in the electric class it was David Crompton who put up a courageous fight to claim the 3rd step on the podium. Crompy finding his fighting spirit late on in the day with his RC8.2E. Powered by Reedy batteries, Novak motor and Etronics speed controller. Whilst everybody was battling the elements it was the 3 local boys who showed the rest how you should drive around the NNRC track by locking out the podium. Richard Taylor drove a sublime, time to shine race. Tricky was in cruise control for most of the day and took a convincing TQ and win. The bright Green machine that is Mahon rounded off the podium with a very strong 2nd overall.
